Whats the point of skating?

To be able to shred with, or without waves. The skateboard was a innovation from the surfboard. The idea was that you could surf when there were not waves. This meant you could improve your skills no matter what. Skateboarding became a means of travel, and a gift to the surfing community. The ramp and the bowls soon followed the skateboard after surfers found more ways that felt more like wave riding. Skating has become a sport of its own today, but originally it was designed to keep surfing no matter what mother nature had in store.
